Nestled alongside Elk City Reservoir and the Elk City Wildlife Area, this natural destination spans over 857 acres and connects visitors to more than 12,000 acres of rolling hills, oak-hickory woodlands, prairie grasses, and scenic lake views.

Elk City is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse hiking experiences in the state. With over 4 miles of trails inside the state park, and even more in the surrounding area, it’s a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts.

Highlighted Trails

  • Exercise Trail – 0.5 miles, Gravel (Easy)
    A short fitness loop with exercise stations in the Day Use Area.
  • Post-Oak Self-Guiding Nature Trail – 1 mile, Natural (Easy)
    A National Recreation Trail through ancient forest along the scenic overlook near the dam. Grab a brochure at the trailhead for a self-guided experience.
  • Table Mound Hiking Trail – 2.95 miles, Natural (Moderate)
    Traverse through bluffs, caves, forests, and creeks along this unforgettable trail.

  • Osage Lowland Bike Trail – 2.5 miles, Paved (Easy, ADA Accessible)
    Great for walking or biking, with scenic views of the lake and wildlife.
  • Osage Lowland Hiking Trail – 3.3 miles, Paved (Easy)
    A smooth ride or stroll through the day-use area with plenty of nature to admire.
  • Eagle Rock Mountain Bike Trail – 4 miles, Natural (Easy to Moderate)
    Designed for both novice and experienced riders with roller coaster dips, boulders, and tree-lined paths.
