Ensuring
a Dynamic Community!
It is my pleasure and good
fortune to serve as your Chamber Chairman for the upcoming year.
The Chamber staff and Board of Directors are an amazing
group of volunteers and professionals dedicated to contributing
their time and talents to the advancement of our community.
I take great pride in having the
opportunity to work with
those who so strongly desire to make our community a better
place to live, work, and play.
It
is no secret that the nation’s economic challenges have taken
a toll on every community in the country, leaving businesses
large and small struggling to survive.
We know that during times of diminished resources it is
particularly important for groups to collaborate, pool
resources, and strive toward a single, common cause.
I believe the diverse groups of businesses that make up
our Chamber give Independence an edge in developing unique
strategies of adapting and thriving.
I
consider it a privilege to be part of an organization that
represents and promotes such a dynamic community.
Your Chamber works to unite the business community toward
that single, common cause, improving our area’s business
climate. And we do so in a variety of ways.
In 2010, The Chamber of Commerce will strive to achieve
the following goals:
· Ensure
the Chamber’s active voice in governmental affairs
· Determine
Member expectations and routinely assess outcomes
· Actively
pursue City, County, and State resources to recruit new and
expand existing businesses
· Collaborate
with Montgomery Co. Action Council and Main Street program
· Develop
and promote a Community Pride Campaign
· Aggressively
promote Independence as a visitor destination
Lastly,
as members of the business community, we know the amount of
energy and resources that go into retaining our existing
customers and members. This year we will focus on enhancing the
Chamber experience as well as educating our diverse membership
on the importance of being an involved citizen. We will continue
to inspire trust within the business community ensuring a strong
voice for our Chamber.
